As El Paso firefighters were working at a rollover crash along State Highway Loop 375, another driver allegedly sped through the scene, striking an apparatus and pole, according to authorities.

A Texas firefighter responding to a rollover crash was injured Monday when he was struck by debris from another vehicle that was speeding through the scene, eventually hitting an apparatus and a pole.

The initial accident happened along Loop 375 in El Paso, and the second incident occurred just after 9:30 p.m., the department stated in an online update. While crews worked that incident, another vehicle drove through the scene and struck a fire apparatus, as well as a pole, according to KFOX-TV.

Debris from that crash struck a firefighter, who was taken to the hospital with minor injuries. A person involved in the original rollover incident also was taken to the hospital with life-threatening injuries.

Police said the vehicle speeding through the accident scene also struck a fire apparatus, KFOX reports. The driver in the second incident was cited for his involvement, and the department urged the public to exercise caution around crash scenes, according to the fire department.

"Please remember, whenever you see emergency vehicles stopped on the road, it is imperative to dramatically reduce your speed and move over. Avoid accidents!" the department stated in a social media post.
